MATRADE Clarifies Role in Asia Islamic Fashion Week 2018
FRIDAY, JULY 27, 2018, KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE) would like to clarify that it is not the organiser nor the supporting agency for the Asia Islamic Fashion Week (AIFW) 2018 which was scheduled to be held at MATRADE Exhibition Convention Centre (MECC) on 26 July 2018 until 29 July 2018.
The organiser of the AIFW 2017 is AIFW Sdn Bhd and the decision to discontinue the event at the premise was done by an independent private venue operator of the MECC and not MATRADE. The AIFW 2018 did not materialise due to the inability of the organiser to secure the payment to utilise the space at the MECC.
MATRADE would also like to emphasise that the MECC is located within the MATRADE building but is not equivalent to MATRADE as a trade promotion agency. The operation of the convention centre is run by an independent venue operator under a contractual agreement, and not by MATRADE.
