MATRADE TO LEAD 24 MALAYSIAN COMPANIES TO THE FINE FOOD AUSTRALIA 2016

FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 9, 2016, KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE) will facilitate 24 Malaysian companies in the Fine Food Australia 2016 from 12 – 15 September. The Event will be held in the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre, Melbourne, Australia and this year would be the eleventh participation by MATRADE in the Fine Food Australia. Fine Food Australia is the largest trade show in Australia that brings together world-class producers and leading suppliers to the one location every year. Fine Food Australia alternates between Sydney and Melbourne each September.

The objectives of MATRADE’s participation in Fine Food Australia 2016 is to promote and expand business opportunities for Malaysia’s food and beverages companies in the Australian market and also to engage with international buyers from Australia and neighbouring countries.

The Malaysian participants for this trade fair are offering various products such as coconut based products, coffee, tea & cocoa, vegetarian food, ‘Ready-to-eat’ meals, beverages, noodles, confectioneries, cooking oil, frozen food, sauce & paste and functional food. During Fine Food Australia 2014 in Melbourne, Malaysian participants managed to generate sales of RM56.9 million.

For the period of January - July, total processed food exports to Australia recorded export value of RM691.5 million. Among the top 5 products exported to Australia are edible products and preparations, cocoa & cocoa preparations, prepared cereals & flour preparations, margarine & shortening and processed seafood. Australia is Malaysia’s fourth largest export destination for processed food.
