Construction

Rapid development in Malaysia in the last decade has produced many Malaysian construction industry players of international standards in terms of capabilities, experience and expertise. The type of projects successfully completed in Malaysia by these players includes infrastructure and buildings, ports, airports, water supplies, power plants, telecommunication and mass rapid transport systems. Today, with the experience and capabilities, Malaysian contractors are well recognised in the international market and have a proven track record as a world class construction service provider.

Education

The education sector in Malaysia, in particular higher education and training, is rapidly developing and is targeted at becoming the centre of excellence in the region. Malaysian institutes of higher learning, which includes the public and private, are capable to offer quality higher education at affordable fees. A variety of higher education courses and programmes including professional and specialized skills courses are being offered by these institutions. Among programmes offered include twinning programmes with American, Canadian, British and Australian universities.

Areas of expertise for Malaysian Engineering companies includes steel construction design, engineering, fabrication and erection, development of power, oil and water plant as well as multi-disciplinary engineering services i.e conceptual design, preliminary technical investigations and etc.

Franchise

Franchising in Malaysia is set to grow significantly as its popularity as one of the preferred ways of doing business. There are increasing interests in franchising by entrepreneurs and this is spurred by government support in facilitating franchise business.

Green Technology

The industry was first initiated by companies and manufacturers offering green products designed to reduce carbon emissions and products developed from renewable sources such as rubber tyres, left-over woodchips and empty palm oil fruit bunches.

The value chain of the health services sub-sector includes the manufacture, provision and distribution of pharmaceutical products, medical equipment and devices, health insurance, R&D, and education and training of medical personnel.

Malaysian healthcare service providers are capable of providing elective and curative procedures in various fields, such as orthopaedics, obstetrics and gynaecology, ophthalmology, cardiothoracic surgery, cardiology, gastroenterology, oncology, pathology, hepathobilary and in-vitro fertilization.

ICT Industry

Information and Communications Technology (ICT) has become an important sector in Malaysia’s economic development since the Government incorporated it in one of the strategies towards creating an industrial-based economy (Second Outline Perspective Plan 1991-2000) and then a knowledge-based economy (Third Outline Perspective Plan 2001-2010). Currently, ICT has become the strategic enabler and key driver of The Government and Economic Transformation Programmes for Malaysia.

Petroleum, Oil & Gas

As Malaysia’s Oil and Gas Industry progresses, the local companies have become prominent service providers in the areas of exploration and production (E&P) operators in Malaysia, and are also capable of providing their services (and products) globally.
