Trade Performance : April 2010 and January - April 2010

The Minister of International Trade and Industry (MITI), YB Dato’ Sri Mustapa Mohamed announced that total exports in April 2010 rose 26.6% year-on-year to RM52.03 billion while imports surged by 27.0% to RM42.80 billion.

Total trade in April 2010 expanded by 26.7% to RM94.83 billion compared with April 2009. Trade surplus was valued at RM9.22 billion, making it the 150th consecutive month of trade surplus since November 1997.

On a month-on-month basis, exports and imports decreased by 12.4% and 5.1%, respectively. Consequently, total trade was 9.3% lower.
