Trade Performance : May 2010 and January - May 2010

The Minister of International Trade and Industry (MITI), YB Dato’ Sri Mustapa Mohamed announced that total exports in May 2010 registered an increase of 21.9% compared with May 2009, to RM52.30 billion. Imports surged by 34.2% to RM44.15 billion. 


Total trade in May 2010 expanded by 27.2% to RM96.45 billion compared with May 2009. Trade surplus was valued at RM8.14 billion, making it the 151st consecutive month of trade surplus since November 1997.

Compared with April 2010, exports and imports increased by 0.5% and 3.3%, respectively. This has contributed to the increase of total trade by 1.8%.
