The Minister of International Trade and Industry (MITI), YB Dato’ Sri Mustapa Mohamed announced that total exports in July 2010 were RM55.43 billion, an increase of 13.5% from July 2009. This was the second highest monthly export value recorded in the first seven months of 2010.  Imports expanded by 18.1% to RM48.41 billion resulting in a total trade of RM103.84 billion, an increase of 15.6% from a year ago.  A trade surplus of RM7.01 billion was recorded, making it the 153rd consecutive month of trade surplus since November 1997. On a month-on-month basis, exports in July 2010 rose by 4.9%, while imports grew by 3.5% and total trade increased by 4.2% compared with June 2010.
