Eigibility Profile

Profiles of companies eligible to be considered for the BEDP are:

• Bumiputera-owned companies with majority or at least 51% of equity of the companies is owned by Bumiputera. The Bumiputera shareholding in the companies could be owned by either individual or group of Bumiputera shareholders. 
• Chief Executive Officers or Managing Directors of companies are Bumiputera . As the BEDP gives emphasis on developing the person or the entrepreneur, the requirement for a Bumiputera CEO or MD is as important as the majority Bumiputera shareholding. 
• Small and medium enterprises (SMEs) which is classified based on the national SME definition. 
• Companies which have been in operation for a minimum of three years and had a certain level of market dominance locally. 
• Companies with business premises or manufacturing facilities, located in certain states or regions. Bumiputera-owned companies based in Sabah and Sarawak could be given priority to be considered in the BEDP, on the basis of diversifying the regional socio-economic growth. 
• Companies which are involved in technology-driven, high value-added and knowledge-based industries are given preference.
