1. How do I register to become a MATRADE member?

Malaysian exporters or export ready companies are welcome to become MATRADE members by registering online by clicking here or submitting Malaysia Exporters Registry brochure to Client Relationship Management Unit. Registration with MATRADE is free.

2. What are the benefits of being a MATRADE member?

MATRADE member benefits are as follows :

  • Trade matching with foreign buyers and update on MATRADE’s promotional activities.
  • Access to market information and market intelligence which are gathered by MATRADE’s worldwide network of offices in 40 major commercial cities.
  • Weekly updates on export opportunities and overseas trade development via e-mail through MATRADE Leads and MATRADE Online News published fortnightly.
  • Company's profile will be listed in MATRADE’s exporters’ database and MATRADE’s website.
  • Free access to MATRADE Business Library which has wide range of resources such as business directories, country profiles, tariff schedules, market reports, periodicals and statistics.
  • Access the MATRADE Web Online Publications Catalogue (Web OPAC) to view MATRADE Business Library’s collection from your own computer terminal.
  • Promote company’s products and services abroad by participating in trade missions, trade fairs and promotional booths, coordinated by MATRADE.
  • Company’s products and services are eligible for display at the Malaysia Export Exhibition Centre (MEEC), MATRADE showroom for Malaysian exporters.
  • Participate in MATRADE’s export development seminars and marketing skills programmes.
  • Updates on the development of e-commerce through MATRADE’s website.

3. How can MATRADE assist me to find importers who would be interested in my products / services?

Your company can find foreign buyers/importers through:

  • Participating in the international trade fairs, promotional booths, trade and investment mission as well as specialised marketing mission coordinated by MATRADE.
  • Contacting foreign importers that are listed in MATRADE LEADS.
  • Accessing online Foreign Importers Database which is available at the MATRADE Business Library.
  • Contacting MATRADE’s 40 offices worldwide

4. How do I participate in overseas trade fairs / trade missions organised by MATRADE?

Companies can log on to MATRADE’s website for the list of all the trade fairs / trade missions and together with the registration forms. MATRADE’s letter of invitation for all MATRADE programmes will also be mailed / fax to companies registered with MATRADE.

5. What type of training programmes are organised by MATRADE?

Workshops and seminars organised by MATRADE nurtures and update exporters on trade developments and business opportunities in the international market. Various topics are covered such as export opportunities in new and emerging markets, enhancing product image, technical requirements and changes in market trends. Companies can view the list of trainings / workshops for the year from MATRADE’s website.

6. How do I get the latest information on my products / services?

Companies registered with MATRADE can access the MATRADE Business Library for free to do research and gather international business information to be able to penetrate new markets. Users who are not registered with MATRADE will be charged RM20.00 per day. The latest feature in the library is “Current Awareness Service” which provides online information for anyone who is interested in keeping up-to-date with the new materials available at the library.

7. Where do I source for Malaysian exporters / manufacturing companies?

Local trading companies and foreign companies who are looking for Malaysian exporters / manufacturing companies can access online Malaysian Exporters database which comprise manufacturers, traders and service providers. Categorised into 30 product and 10 service sectors, this easy-to-use database can be used to search and contact Malaysian suppliers.

8. Can MATRADE register and endorse Trade and Industry Exhibitions in Malaysia?

If your company / organisation would like to register trade related exhibition and seek MATRADE’s endorsement, you need to submit the Registration Form (R1) and Endorsement Form(E1). These  forms are available at MATRADE’s website and registration is free.

9. How can I get a copy of Trade Mart? Can I purchase Trade Mart?

Trade Mart is a bimonthly newsletter by MATRADE which contains trade news, market briefs and international trade notifications. It is distributed for free to all MATRADE members and can be downloaded from the website as well.

10. What are the assistance programmes offered by MATRADE for SMEs?

Market Development Grant (MDG) and Brand Promotion Grant (BPG) are the two main assistance programmes offered by MATRADE to assist Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) to undertake activities for the development of export markets. For MDG, companies can obtain a 50% matching grant on the approved cost of the eligible activities. As for BPG, the grant is divided into 100% reimbursable grant for the development and promotion of brand subject to maximum grant of RM 1 million for SMEs and 50% reimbursable grant subject to maximum grant of RM 2 million for non-SMEs.

11. What is MEEC?

MEEC or also known as the Malaysia Export Exhibition Centre (MEEC) is a permanent display area managed by MATRADE. Companies registered with MATRADE can display Malaysian products / services and make their presence known to foreign buyers and in-coming trade delegations.

12. How can MATRADE’s Trade Commissioners help me to promote my products/services?

Overseas Trade Commissioners can provide information on doing business in the international market and link Malaysian products/services with foreign buyers. Malaysian companies are invited to visit MATRADE overseas offices whenever they are there on business to network and seek assistance especially on local business practices.
