Overview
Rapid development in Malaysia in the last decade has
produced many Malaysian construction industry players
of international standards in terms of capabilities,
experience and expertise. The type of projects successfully
completed in Malaysia by these players includes infrastructure
and buildings, ports, airports, water supplies, power
plants, telecommunication and mass rapid transport systems.
Among the involvement in Malaysia's mega projects and
renowned landmarks are :
- Putrajaya - e-Government Administrative Centre
- Cyberjaya - Malaysia's first smart city
- Petronas Twin Towers - The world's tallest twin
towers
- North-South Highway - an economic generating project
- Sepang International F1 Circuit
- Kuala Lumpur Sentral - the world's only virtual

- Genting and Langkawi resorts - excellent tourist
and business destinations
- Lumut and Kapar power plants - two of the many state-of-the-art
power generation stations
In the international arena, the Malaysian construction
industry is now well known for its proven quality, constant
innovation and competitive costing in delivering overseas
projects. With the skills and technology comparable
to those of the developed nations but at the Asian affordable
price, Malaysian contractors have made inroads in the
global market, by successfully undertaking and completing
projects in India, United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia,
Bahrain, Qatar, China, South Africa, Bosnia-Herzegovina,
Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam, Laos, Sudan and other parts
of the world.
To date, Malaysian construction companies had completed
333 projects valued at RM 22.98 billion and are currently
undertaking 96 projects worth RM148.43 billion in 42
countries. Some of the major projects with the involvement
of Malaysian contractors overseas are:-

Export Promotion Activities
MATRADE promotes the export of the construction sector
through participation in international trade fairs,
specialised marketing missions as well as trade and
investment missions led by the Minister of International
Trade and Industry. Seminars and business meeting sessions
held during missions are useful platform to disseminate
information on the capabilities and expertise of the
Malaysian construction companies as well as for participating
Malaysian companies to meet with their potential business
partners in the countries visited during the mission.
