Sustaining Export Development MATRADE Core Purpose // 101 For Electrical & Electronics Sector Productivity Nexus (EEPN), MATRADE in 2019, implemented export promotion programmes, namely ITF SEMICON West, that generated RM201.1 million in potential sales and INSP SEMICON SEA, with potential sales of RM211.9 million. This programme expedited Malaysian companies to integrate into the MNC global supply chain and access international markets. In 2019, cooperation in Machinery and Equipment Productivity Nexus (MEPN) was reflected in the organisation of MATRADE-MEPN-MEIF Engagement Day and Industry4FWD Transformation Seminar that created awareness and emphasised on digital and automation adaptation. Companies were exposed to relevant government incentives in IR4.0, addressed adaptation to challenges as well as sharing of experiences of companies that switched to IR4.0. For Information and Communication Technology Productivity Nexus (ICTPN), two business matching programmes with the Sapporo City Council in conjunction with a roundtable meeting of Osaka’s trade partner countries benefitted 15 Malaysian ICT companies. Among products that attracted interest were hardware for the GPS systems, software, financial technology, IR4.0 information technology and industrial solutions. With Chemical & Chemical Productivity Nexus (CCPN), MATRADE works closely with MPC to promote exports of Malaysian chemical products as part of its commitment to ensure high-productivity companies expand in the export segment. Under Professional Services Productivity Nexus (PSPN), MATRADE has been tasked to assist in formulating and implement programmes to increase export, in addition to providing information on policies and export opportunities during the monthly meetings. MATRADE also collaborated with MPC to organise programmes to increase participation of local professional services in Malaysia Services eDirectory portal (MSeD). This portal was developed by MATRADE to specifically promote the services sector. Three outreach programmes conducted in Kuala Lumpur, Penang and Johor benefited more than 100 Malaysian service companies and directly provide opportunities to expand their services in the global market.
