102 // MATRADE Annual Report 2019 PURPOSE 5 BUILDING EXPORT READINESS MATRADE is committed to exporter development and building Malaysian companies’ readiness to spur export growth. MATRADE organises programmes to assist local companies prepare to explore export opportunities overseas. These initiatives include business training, upskilling, networking, international exposure and leadership development for businesses to be resilient as well as sustainable globally. EXPORT EXERCISE In 2019, MATRADE organised 46 export training programmes to enhance the capabilities and competitiveness of Malaysian exporters. These programmes emphasised the importance of strategies, guidelines and rules that are crucial to penetrate international markets. Training encompassed: • Business opportunities in the international market; • Hazard Analysis and Crisis Control Points (HACCP); • Harmonized Commodity Description and Coding System (HS Code); • Halal certification processes; • Export quality requirements; • Packaging and labelling procedures in accordance to export markets; • Guidelines on export shipping procedures; • Online business; and • Financial facilities for export. Briefing for new companies National Export Day 2019 Over 5,000 participants throughout the country attended MATRADE’s programmes which encompassed various topics. MATRADE also collaborated with several organisations in successfully organising these training programmes. The organisations included MITI, Royal Malaysian Customs Department (JKDM), Ministry of Health Malaysia (MOH), SIRIM Berhad, public institutions of higher learning, financial and banking institutions as well as other related statutory bodies.
