Sustaining Export Development MATRADE Core Purpose // 109 Among the participants during Export Day Terengganu 2019 In line with MATRADE’s mission and vision for Malaysia to be a competitive trading nation and to promote Malaysian companies in the international arena, the five MATRADE regional offices of Terengganu, Johor, Penang, Sabah and Sarawak regions have respective roles to nurture, encourage and create awareness and build export readiness for both existing and new Malaysian businesses. The main objectives are to increase export-ready companies from various regions and to boost their contribution to Malaysia’s total exports. Regional offices forge relationships with companies within its purview by sharing information on MATRADE export development and promotional programmes. The offices are also the reference point for state government and related local authorities involved in trade. ROLE OF MATRADE REGIONAL OFFICES IN BUILDING EXPORT READINESS Activities held by these regional offices include providing advisory services, organising seminars and workshops, conducting meetings with Malaysian companies, related Ministries and agencies, as well as arranging visits to factories, chambers of commerce and industry associations. MATRADE regional offices organised over 420 programmes involving 2,200 companies throughout 2019. BUILDING EXPORT READINESS
