Sustaining Export Development MATRADE Core Purpose // 113 SUCCESS STORY OF SEF Syngas Sdn Bhd is one of SEF grant recipients for a feasibility study of Plastic-to-Fuel (PTF) Technology in Ireland. Syngas has successful developed a unique technology called PTF Conversion which transforms plastic waste into Euro 5 standard diesel fuel. This Malaysian pioneering technology is the first in the world and patented in 60 countries. Syngas has proven that the cost of producing diesel using PTF technology saves more compared to conventional methods. Through this achievement, Syngas was granted pioneer status in 2014 and given recognition of being among top 30 Malaysian catalyst companies in 2015. Syngas also received other recognitions from government agencies namely, MOSTI, MIDA, Teraju and GreenTech Malaysia, Information session on Service Export Fund (SEF) assistance programme to Third Country Training Programme (TCTP) participants PROVIDING SPECIFIC SUPPORT A total 203 outreach programmes were implemented throughout 2019 to promote SEF programmes. As a result of this initiative, a total of 81 MSPs with 183 projects and activities were approved amounting to RM13.1 million, an increase of 400% to the set KPI, which is 20 companies annually. Export sales generated from SEF grants was RM3.24 billion. Among the projects approved under the SEF are feasibility studies for projects, namely: • The Precision Flood Prediction Ecosystem (PFPE), Australia; • The Healthcare Facility in Lhokseumawe, North Aceh, Indonesia; • The Information and Creative Content Industry in Uzbekistan; and • The Property Development of 3,000 Housing Units in Kutai Timur, East Kalimantan, Indonesia. New markets successfully penetrated were namely Australia, Bangladesh, Brunei, Canada, Ireland, Nepal, Nigeria, Uganda, Uzbekistan, Kuwait, Qatar, Senegal, Seychelles, Sri Lanka and Timor-Leste. Among the sectors explored and promoted by MSPs are: • Islamic and Shariah financial advisory services; • Creative content and talent consulting; • Port and waterway operations services; • Environmental protection services; and • Healthcare services.
