Sustaining Export Development MATRADE Core Purpose // 119 CHINA AND EAST ASIA MATRADE Beijing was involved in the official working visit of the Prime Minister of Malaysia to Beijing in conjunction with the 2nd Belt and Road Forum, aimed at strengthening friendships and fostering cooperation between Malaysia and China. A total of 2 MoUs were signed between the Malaysian Palm Oil Council (MPOC) and China Chamber of Commerce of Import & Export of Foodstuffs, Native Produce & Animal By-Products (CFNA) for the supply of palm oil from 2019 to 2023. Visits to Huawei Technologies Co Ltd and Sense Time Group Ltd, China’s multinational telecommunications company and leading technology provider, were organised to explore manufacturing technology, autonomous driving applications, smart cities, education, healthcare and other trending developments. In conjunction with theworking visit of the Deputy Prime Minister of Malaysian, MATRADE and MIDA Beijing coordinated a roundtable meeting with 40 Chinese importers and corporate leaders to promote the high-tech sector. MATRADE Beijing also collaborated with MITI and MIDA to organise three dialogue sessions between PROTON Holdings Berhad and the Chinese business community for trade and investment purposes. MATRADE Beijing in addition organised a Malaysian durian festival together with PLS Plantations, Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industries and Malaysia Economic Association (MEA) to increase durian exports. MATRADE Beijing collaborated with Malaysia Productivity Corporation (MPC), Malaysia Fire Protection Association (MFPA) and Malaysia Automotive Robotics and IoT Institute (MARii) in organising three EAMs where business meetings between Malaysian companies and importers were arranged. MATRADE Shanghai cooperated with MITI and MDEC in organising the New Economic Workshop together with Alibaba Group which attracted 30 participants from 19 ministries and agencies. The workshop aimed to spur the eCommerce agenda spearheaded by National eCommerce Council (NeCC) which monitors and implements this strategic direction. The Malaysia Festival Week in November 2019 was also organised by MATRADE Shanghai together with Alibaba Group to promote Malaysian products and services online. MATRADE Guangzhou collaborated with Guangdong Chamber of Commerce in arranging several business meetings during China International Small and Medium Enterprises Fair (CISMEF) in June 2019. This was in addition Business meetings between Malaysian companies and Chinese importers PROVIDING SPECIFIC SUPPORT
