These collaborations assisted Malaysian companies penetrate the Chinese market by obtaining the latest information in market trends. MATRADE Chengdu coordinated 11 TPV to nine potential locations namely, Xi’an, Chongqing, Kunming, Qinghai, Lanzhou, Yibin, Luzhou and others. Roundtable meetings were also organised with local authorities such China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT), Department of Commerce (DOFCOM), and state-owned companies (SOC) to introduce Malaysian products and services. MATRADE Chengdu gave briefings at the 3rd China Southeast Asia Business Forum, Malaysia-China Symposium and 2019 Silk Road Business Cooperation on business opportunities with Malaysia through eCommerce platform. MATRADE Hong Kong SAR assisted Malaysian SMEs promote their products and services at several IT Fairs in Hong Kong SAR and Macau namely, HOFEX 2019, Belt & Road International Food Expo (BRIFE) 2019, Macau International Trade & Investment Fair (MIF) 2019, Guangdong & Macao Branded Products Fair 2019 and Macao Franchise Expo 2019. These programmes enabled business meetings between Malaysian participants and Hong Kong SAR and Macau importers. Among products showing potential were fast moving consumer goods (FMCG) notably, food, home equipment, clothings, furniture, cosmetics, toiletries and others. With over 8,000 agents and procurement offices of global multinational companies, MATRADE Hong Kong SAR explored opportunities to identify importers to promote Malaysian products and services. MATRADE Hong Kong SAR also hosted several ‘Trade and Investment Opportunities with Malaysia’ seminars to promote Malaysia as a resource for quality products and services, as well as a destination for potential investment. This programme was organised in collaboration with local government trade agencies, namely Trade and Industry Department (TID) and Hong Kong SAR Trade Development Council (HKTDC) as well as trade and social entities notebly, Malaysian Chamber of Commerce Hong Kong and Macau (Maycham HK), Malaysians Association in Hong Kong SAR (MAHK) and Malaysia My Second Home (MM2H) agents. MATRADE Taipei together with TAITRA and Taiwan Halal Integrity Development Association (THIDA) successfully organised halal promotion programmes in Taiwan. MATRADE Taipei worked with PUNB in conjunction with the Taipei International Food Show where business meetings were conducted between Malaysian and Taiwanese companies. MATRADE Taipei also held meetings with the Bureau of Foreign Trade (BOFT), Taiwan Food and Drug Administration (TFDA) and related agencies to acquire the latest information and guidelines. Discussions between Taiwanese trade and industry associations and the Malaysian Chamber of Commerce (MAYCHAM) were held from time to time to obtain information on current business situations. MATRADE Tokyo focused on increasing trade activities with Japan through liquid natural gas (LNG) and electrical & electronic products. A total of four sectors were explored, namely biomass renewable energy, aerospace, halal food & beverage, creative and multimedia content.
