124 // MATRADE Annual Report 2019 EUROPE In an effort to enhance exports of Malaysian products to UK, MATRADE London strengthened cooperation with Malaysian investors in the UK, namely Battersea Power Station Development Company Limited and Ecoworld International. This was to identify products and companies from Malaysia to be incorporated into the supply chain of development projects in the UK. MATRADE London also coordinated with two banks, Santander UK and CIMB Islamic through the Trade Club Alliance platform to identify business opportunities and provide market-related advisory services such as, policies, regulations and trade tariffs. MATRADE London assisted trade and investment missions by State Governments of Sarawak, Melaka and Pulau Penang including organising meetings with potential importers. MATRADE Rotterdam focused on promotion of exports in potential sectors such as, sustainability and environmentally friendly products, renewable energy, food & beverage, medical devices, clothings and fashion. MATRADE Rotterdam also assisted the Malaysian franchise industry expand their businesses to Europe. Through this initiative, the office arranged the visit of potential buyers from Sweden to Malaysia in conjunction with the Malaysia International Retail and Franchise Exhibition (MIRF) held in Kuala Lumpur in April 2018. Marrybrown successfully opened its first franchise outlet in Stockholm, Sweden. MATRADE Rotterdam collaborated with Malaysian Agriculture Office at The Hague to coordinate business meetings for Malaysian companies participating in the Global Seafood Expo in Brussels, Belgium in May 2019. MATRADE Rotterdam further organised visits and discussions with the Melaka State Government and Port Rotterdam representatives besides arranging business meetings in promoting products from the state of Melaka.
