Sustaining Export Development MATRADE Core Purpose // 125 In an effort to increase exports, MATRADE Istanbul identified products demanded by Turkish importers, namely oleochemical, yarns and textiles, lifestyle products based on ceramics, palm oil and wood products. The official working visit by the Prime Minister of Malaysia to Turkey in July 2019 which encompassed a roundtable meeting with Turkey’s leading industry players had strengthened trust and interest of the Turkish business community towards Malaysia. MATRADE Istanbul also provided services and assistance to Malaysian companies, agencies, business chambers & associations through promotion and business meeting arrangements. Throughout 2019, MATRADE Istanbul provided services to over 400 Turkish and 250 Malaysian companies. PM’s official working visit to Istanbul, Turkey Opening Ceremony of Expo Ferroviaria 2019 in Milan, Italy MATRADE Istanbul aimed to establish a strategic relationship with the business community in Turkey in choosing Malaysia as an alternative and competitive sourcing destination. MATRADE Milan promoted the export of goods and services by providing specialised assistance to Malaysian exporters to Italy, Spain, Kosovo and Croatia. Among potential sectors identified are construction, E&E products, halal food, medical devices and rubber-based products for medical purposes. MATRADE Milan was also directly involved with ASEAN Committee in Rome (ACR) and ASEAN Committee in Madrid (ACM) to promote Malaysia as a hub for exploring ASEAN markets. PROVIDING SPECIFIC SUPPORT
