Sustaining Export Development MATRADE Core Purpose // 133 MALAYSIA PROMOTION PROGRAMME 2019 In 2019, MATRADE organised the Malaysia Promotion Programme (MPP) in Manila, Philippines with support of the Ministry of International Trade and Industry (MITI) to strengthen the Malaysian Brand. It also aimed to promote Malaysia as the preferred destination for sourcing, trade, investment and tourism while positioning Malaysia as a gateway to ASEAN. Together with 18 Malaysian companies, MATRADE participated in WorldBEX, an international development and construction expo held at the World Trade Center, Manila to showcase the nation’s capabilities in the construction and building materials sectors. This was Malaysia’s fifth participation in the event. CHINA-ASEAN EXPO 2019 A total of 167 Malaysian companies and 11 government agencies joined CAEXPO for 16th time in Nanning, China. Among participants, 61% were first-time exhibitors. Products promoted encompassed food & beverage, healthcare and lifestyle sectors while services sectors involved education, franchising, water treatment technology, environment and professional services. The Malaysian Pavilion was officiated by the Minister of MITI on 20 September 2019. CAEXPO 2019, which was themed “Building Belt & Road Routes, Realizing Our Vision for Community of Shared Future,” saw the participation of 20 countries. In addition to countries within the ASEAN region, CAEXPO also attracted participation of countries under the Belt and Road initiative namely, Poland, Italy and Pakistan. MATRADE also collaborated with the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture (MOTAC) in promoting Malaysian tourism sector in-tandem with Visit Malaysia 2020. MOTAC featured a group of artistes to perform traditional dance sequences together with cultural interaction activities at the Pavilion throughout the duration of the event.
