Sustaining Export Development Trade Performance Report // 35 In 2019, trade with Oceania which represented 3.4% of Malaysia’s total trade recorded a decrease of 5.7% to RM63.10 billion compared to 2018. Australia was Malaysia’s largest trading partner in Oceania, with a share of 82.0%, followed by New Zealand (12.5%) and Papua New Guinea (3.4%). Exports to the region contributed 3.6% or RM35.71 billion to Malaysia’s total exports. Major export products were crude petroleum which accounted for 24.1% of Malaysia’s total exports to Oceania, followed by petroleum products and E&E products. OCEANIA Imports from Oceania rose by 6.8% to RM27.39 billion. Main imports were manufactures of metal, LNG as well as processed food. Australia was also Malaysia’s largest export market in the region, accounted for 79.7% share or RM28.45 billion. Major export products to Australia were crude petroleum (24.2% share), petroleum products (16.9%) and E&E products (15.6%). Imports from Australia grew by 8.0% to RM23.32 billion. Main imports were manufactures of metal, LNG as well as metalliferous ores and metal scrap.
