MATRADE OVERVIEW ABOUT US Tasked with promoting exports on a national level, Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE) is an agency under the purview of the Ministry of International Trade and Industry (MITI) responsible for promoting Malaysia as a competitive and globally renowned trading nation. MATRADE was established under the Akta Perbadanan Pembangunan Perdagangan Luar Malaysia 1992. MATRADE’s key mission is to build and expand Malaysia’s exports to world markets. Our responsibility is to raise the profile of Malaysian exports internationally. MATRADE makes available relevant and current information as well as identifying market trends to help exporters be better prepared in widening global reach. We are active in initiating promotional programmes for products and services of Malaysian companies at the international level. MATRADE also conducts selective buyer profiling and business matching between Malaysian exporters and potential foreign importers to further stimulate national exports. With an extensive network of international connectivity, MATRADE has consistently guided and offered consultancy to all levels of exporters to explore world markets. This effort directly contributes to the prosperity and economic well-being of the country. OUR ROLE MATRADE is entrusted to develop the external trade of Malaysian goods and services. Our role is to reinforce the potential of exporter capabilites to compete on a global scale and to continuously maintain a high regard for the “Made in Malaysia” insignia. GLOBAL EXPECTATIONS We will continue to find new and innovative avenues to nurture and support our exporters on a global level. MATRADE has 46 trade offices overseas located within international commercial hubs worldwide and our five domestic regional offices located in Pulau Pinang, Terengganu, Johor, Sabah and Sarawak. INTERNAL RESOURCES At MATRADE, we believe that our workforce is the cornerstone of our organisation. We strive to accelerate intellectual development, strengthen leadership potential and heighten levels of achievement. MATRADE places emphasis on carrying out training, development of mentoring programmes as well as workplace-related studies. We have the calibre to offer opportunities for every member of the workforce to achieve excellence and be ingrained with a robust corporate culture. For this purpose, we chart and carry out strategic marketing plans, disseminate comprehensive information and provide trade consultation to exporters. MATRADE delivers feedback to the government in all matters related to external trade.
