Sustaining Export Development MATRADE Core Purpose // 93 PURPOSE 4 ENHANCING NATIONAL EXPORT PLAN MATRADE coordinates and monitors the entire export ecosystem and strengthens cooperation between ministries and agencies in implementing export promotion programmes. MATRADE serves as the secretariat to the JK-X on behalf of MITI, a committee that governs all national export promotional programmes. Among the responsibilities as the secretariat is to organise working committee meetings (JWC) chaired by the Secretary General (KSU) of MITI on a quarterly basis, and JK-X meetings chaired by the Chief Secretary to the Government (KSN) twice a year. Through JK-X, MATRADE coordinates with all ministries and agencies to enhance cooperation and share resources to maximise returns on the cost of implementing export promotions. A year after its establishment, MATRADE held four JWC meetings and two JK-X meetings to review and approve 288 proposed export promotion programmes from 16 ministries, involving 23 agencies. An analysis of 252 export promotional programmes implemented in 2019 was also presented to JK-X members. ENHANCING NATIONAL EXPORT PLAN EXPORT PROMOTION PROGRAMME COORDINATION COMMITTEE (JK-X) Members of the Export Promotion Programme Coordination Committee MATRADE takes on a pivotal role in organising the nation’s export plan by coordinating and monitoring the export ecosystem including analysing investment information of Malaysian companies abroad and examining barriers involving tariffs and non-tariffs.
