Hence, the Lifestyle Unit will strive to develop closer linkages with industry stakeholders. Besides textiles, apparel & footwear and furniture, jewellery can also be identified as one of the promising subsectors that could accelerate Lifestyle exports. The zero-rating of Goods and Services tax (GST) as well as the value-added tax (VAT) exemption on wholesalers of gold jewellery in the UAE (the biggest single market of Malaysia’s exports of gold jewellery) are positive signs for the Malaysian jewellery industry to boost their export performance in the future.
