MITI, with MATRADE and MIDA, coordinated a Trade and Investment (TIM) to Tokyo to boost trade and explore business opportunities and cooperation in investment projects between the two nations. The TIM is in alignment with the Look East Policy 2.0 and aims to open pathways for export opportunities under the FTA with Japan and revive business activities impacted by the pandemic, while promoting Malaysia as a key regional trade destination. Bilateral meetings were held with Japanese conglomerates Sumitomo Corporation and ADEKA Corporation, focusing on the iron & steel products, engineering, ICT & digital media, halal and related services, and palm oil sectors.
