51 MATRADE Core Objectives MATRADE Annual Report 2022 TRANSPORTATION & LOGISTICS SECTOR Malaysian Pavilion at the Farnborough International Airshow (FIA) 2022 Farnborough, United Kingdom 18 - 22 Jul 2022 MATRADE, in collaboration with the National Aerospace Industry Coordination Office (NAICO Malaysia), successfully coordinated the participation of 17 Malaysian exhibitors at the biennial Farnborough International Airshow (FIA) 2022, which was held from 18 to 22 July 2022. Malaysia was the only ASEAN country with a national pavilion at the exhibition, which had a total of 1,253 exhibitors from 24 countries. The main objective of MATRADE’s participation in this exhibition was to showcase and promote Malaysia as the hub of the aerospace industry in Southeast Asia while exploring potential opportunities for technology development with foreign companies to boost the capabilities of Malaysian firms. Tan Sri Dr. Halim Mohammad, Chairman of MATRADE, led a Malaysian delegation comprising representatives from the Ministry of International Trade and Industry (MITI), Bumiputera Agenda Leading Unit (TERAJU), Invest Selangor Berhad, and 14 Malaysian aerospace companies. The Malaysian exhibitors showcased a wide range of products and services, including aircraft components and spare parts, engineering and design services, training services, and maintenance services. The exhibitors benefited from a total of 128 business matching sessions, which included Tier-1 and OEM companies like Boeing and Airbus. His Majesty Seri Paduka Baginda Yang Di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah Ibni Almarhum Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah Al-Musta’in Billah visited the Malaysia Pavilion at FIA 2022 on 19 July 2022, which demonstrated the event’s significance and importance to Malaysia’s aerospace industry. Malaysian Pavilion at Aviation Week MRO Asia-Pacific (MROAP) 2022 Singapore 20-22 Sept 2022 MATRADE, in collaboration with the National Aerospace Industry Coordination Office (NAICO Malaysia), successfully coordinated the participation of four Malaysian exhibitors at Aviation Week MRO Asia-Pacific (MROAP) 2022. The Malaysian delegation aimed to promote and increase the exports of aerospace products and services, strengthen cross-border collaboration in aerospace services, and integrate Malaysian companies into the global aerospace supply chain. MROAP is one of the most important exhibitions in the ASEAN region and it was attended by many influential players in the aerospace industry. The event featured a total of 188 exhibitors, attracting over 4,000 trade visitors from 67 countries. MATRADE’s participation in MROAP 2022 marked its inaugural involvement in the event. Three Malaysian companies and one business association took part in the Malaysian Pavilion to promote maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) services, technical training services, MRO business consulting, and MRO line and base maintenance services. The Malaysian Pavilion caught the attention of over 800 foreign visitors, including those from countries like Australia, China, Singapore, the Netherlands, Germany, and the United Kingdom. During the exhibition period, MATRADE and Malaysian exhibitors received 200 trade inquiries, which demonstrated the impact and importance of Malaysia’s participation in MROAP 2022.
