MATRADE Annual Report 2022

52 TOWARDS THE FUTURE OF SUSTAINABLE EXPORTS The United Arab Emirates (UAE) is one of the world’s top 10 largest producers of crude oil, and oil and gas revenue contributes approximately 30% to the UAE’s GDP. Additionally, the UAE possesses the seventh-largest natural gas reserves. Consequently, the UAE presents significant opportunities in the oil and gas industry and actively promotes foreign investment in this sector. Despite the challenging economic landscape brought about by the ongoing pandemic, Malaysian oil and gas companies remain keen to seize export opportunities, particularly in the Middle East region. This commitment was demonstrated through the participation of 20 Malaysian oil and gas companies under the Malaysia Pavilion at ADIPEC 2022. Notably, this was MATRADE’s eighth edition of organising the Malaysian pavilion at ADIPEC, showcasing its substantial involvement. ADIPEC is a crucial international trade exhibition in the Middle East. Throughout the exhibition, Malaysian companies effectively showcased their wide range of products and services, including fabrication of oil and gas process equipment, engineering services, mechanical services, engineering solutions, explosion protection compliance services, inspection services, pipeline cleaning services, Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) solutions, and industrial hose equipment. MATRADE facilitated a total of 370 successful business matching sessions with representatives from prominent global oil and gas companies and national oil firms, including the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) and Bahrain Petroleum Company (BAPCO). This highlights the strong networking and partnership opportunities available for Malaysian companies in the oil and gas sector.
