63 MATRADE Core Objectives MATRADE Annual Report 2022 SUSTAINABLE EXTERNAL TASKFORCE (SET) The following sustainability programmes were implemented by MATRADE in its commitment towards sustainable practices and positive change: 1) Car Boot Sale The Car Boot Sale was organised to promote the reuse and recycling of items. Employees were provided the opportunity to sell their unwanted items to reduce waste and participate in the circular economy. The event generated RM8,000 in sales 2 ) Trash to Cash Programme The Trash to Cash programme was conducted to incentivise employees in reducing waste. Employees were encouraged to separate their household waste and their recyclables were collected and sold to local recyclers. The programme generated returns of RM3,000. . 3) MATRADE Integrity Day Integrity Day was conceptualised to promote ethical workplace practices. MATRADE staff attended training sessions on integrity and anti-corruption. 4) MATRADE Health Care Day MATRADE collaborated with several clinics and hospitals to organise Health Care Day to promote a healthy lifestyle and wellbeing among employees. There were health check-ups, fitness activities, and health talks to raise awareness of the importance of being healthy. 5) Computer Donation Drive MATRADE donated 40 computer units to a local school to help improve access to technology for underprivileged students. This donation drive is part of MATRADE’s commitment to promoting digital applications and in bridging the technology access gap. Sustainability Activities Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia 1 Jan-31 Dec 2022 6) Sports Closing Ceremony MATRADE organised a Sports Closing Ceremony to encourage teamwork, sportsmanship, and healthy competition among employees. Various sporting events were held, including basketball, badminton, and table tennis matches, promoting physical activity and mental well-being. In line with its commitment to sustainability, MATRADE also conducted various advocacy activities to encourage sustainable practices and highlight achievements among Malaysian businesses. 7) Webinar MATRADE organised several sustainability-focused webinars to raise awareness and promote sustainable practices among Malaysian businesses. Webinar topics covered various areas such as renewable energy, waste management, sustainable supply chains, and circular economy. A significant number of businesses attended the webinars and provided positive feedback on the content and speakers. 8) Speaker for Sustainability Events MATRADE participated as a speaker in various local sustainability events, where knowledge and practices on sustainability were shared with local businesses. MATRADE’s participation in these events and commitment contribute towards enhancing the nation’s profile as a sustainable business destination. 9) Knowledge Hub Programme under MIHAS 2022 MATRADE conducted the Knowledge Hub programme as part of Malaysia International Halal Showcase (MIHAS 2022) to promote sustainability in the halal industry. Lectures, workshops, and panel discussions on sustainable practices in the halal industry, such as sustainable agriculture, ethical sourcing, and waste reduction were held. The programme was attended by businesses in the halal industry, and we received positive feedback on the content and speakers.
