64 TOWARDS THE FUTURE OF SUSTAINABLE EXPORTS MATRADE organises the Malaysia International Halal Showcase (MIHAS) to drive the export of Malaysian halal products and services, especially those by MSMEs. Since the first MIHAS in 2004, the event has been recognised as the best platform for global halal trade. MIHAS 2022 was held in line with national economic recovery efforts at the Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre (MITEC) in Kuala Lumpur, with the theme ‘Diversifying Halal Possibilities’. The hybrid format of the event prioritised virtual approaches to maintain the momentum of the industry’s digital agenda. MIHAS Kuala Lumpur,Malaysia 7-10 Sept 2022 MALAYSIA INTERNATIONAL HALAL EXHIBITION (MIHAS) MIHAS 2022 encompassed four main components: the showcase of halal products and services, INSP, Knowledge Hub and the MIHAS Awards. !e event saw the participation of industry players from 33 countries, with 1,258 booths attracting 32,356 visitors. MATRADE’s digitalisation initiatives to promote exports throughout the pandemic via MIHAS were recognised by the World Trade Promotion Organisation (WTPO), an organisation under the United Nations (UN), in 2022. MATRADE came ahead of competitors from Austria, Canada, and Tanzania to win the award for Best Usage of Information Technology by an International Trade Centre (ITC). 32,356 INSP booths visitors 1,258
