65 MATRADE Core Objectives MATRADE Annual Report 2022 MATRADE’s Electronic Business Linkage (eBizLink) programme is a new high-impact initiative under the government’s People and Economic Strategic Empowerment Programme (PEMERKASA) to stimulate the growth of Malaysia’s exports by leveraging hybrid platforms. eBizLink is a strategic collaboration between local and international stakeholders that include government agencies, businesses, e-market providers and industry players, supported by MATRADE’s 46 overseas offices. A budget of RM5 million was allocated for the programme, covering a 19-month period (June 2021 - December 2022). eBizLink is a cost effective and sustainable solution for Malaysian exporters, from MSMEs to mid-tier companies (MTCs), to seize new business opportunities and transition to a digital economy. Through eBizLink, the government aims to equip MSMEs and MTCs with the resources needed to compete in the digital economy, leveraging global sales campaigns to promote Malaysian products and brands. The campaign in 2022 focused on digital marketing through live streaming by influencers, combining the physical product with social media platforms to enhance online international promotional and sales campaigns. The Taste of Malaysia campaign at Asia Market, Dublin, Ireland, featuring two influencers, Marcus O’Laoire and Chef Sham. The eBizLink programme has succeeded in: • Implementing 46 Global eBusiness Campaigns by MATRADE’s Overseas Offices; • Involving 995 Malaysian companies • Conducting 11 campaigns featuring 47 influencers in China, the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, Singapore, Thailand, the Philippines, Myanmar, Kazakhstan, and Uzbekistan. • The sectors with the highest demand were food and beverages, followed by personal care products, healthcare products, automotive manufacturing, and education services. Recognising the importance of digital marketing in the present economy and following the success of eBizLink, the government has approved the continuation of this initiative through the CrossBorder e-Commerce Development Programme under Rolling Plan 3 (RP3) 12MP for 2023.
