68 TOWARDS THE FUTURE OF SUSTAINABLE EXPORTS Objective 2 eTrade Programme MATRADE’s market research has shown that an increasing number of importers are utilising e-commerce. In response, MATRADE has taken steps to expand its e-commerce programme for export. The eTRADE 2.0 programme aims to continue assisting Malaysian SMEs promote their products on cross-border platforms and engage in digital marketing activities. In addition, the programme provides access to e-commerce training to enhance their online presence. There are two incentive schemes available for Malaysian SMEs to take advantage of: the Onboarding Scheme and the Digital Marketing & Training Scheme (DMT). Through the Onboarding Scheme, SMEs can receive financial assistance of up to RM5,000 to offset a portion of the listing costs on cross-border e-commerce platforms. A total of 40 awareness programmes and outreach activities have been conducted, primarily through collaboration with renowned cross-border e-commerce platforms such as Alibaba.com, Amazon.com, eBay, JD.com, among others. These programmes include seminars and webinars, attracting a commendable participation of 3,050 attendees. Through eTRADE 2.0, 585 SMEs have received assistance, with 438 SMEs benefiting from the Onboarding Scheme and 147 SMEs from the Digital Marketing & Training Scheme (DMT). Notably, the programme has made a significant impact in various sectors, including food, beverages, pharmaceuticals, personal care and cosmetics, household goods, and agricultural products, supporting the growth of SMEs in these industries.
