77 MATRADE Core Objectives MATRADE Annual Report 2022 The X-SEED unit also runs three additional programmes: a) Collaborations with State Governments This exporter development programme aims to address the export needs of selected SMEs from target states in penetrating international markets. The companies are guided in participating in export promotion activities run in collaboration with state governments. b) Collaborations & Strategic Partnerships This programme was specifically designed to strengthen SME companies by leveraging support from various parties within the export ecosystem. For example, MATRADE has established several MoUs through strategic partnership programmes, including partnerships with CIMB and the Malaysian Green Technology and Climate Change (MGTC), to identify and promote Malaysian Green Exporters. Another important partnership is with Bank Islam Malaysia Berhad, with initiatives such as the SMEXpert and SME Exporter Financing Program, aimed at assisting SME exporters in digitalization and providing financial support. These collaborative efforts and partnership programmes are in place to ensure the sustainability of SMEs in the international arena. c) Sustainability Programmes Export sustainability encompasses environmentally friendly products and services that are free from pollutants and align with standard and green certifications. To meet the growing demand for sustainable products in international markets, X-SEED has partnered with various strategic partners within MATRADE. This collaboration involves sustainability and the export ecosystem and has significantly improved SMEs’ understanding of the value of sustainable practices in product manufacturing and service provision to meet the requirements of export markets. Melaka State Deputy Secretary General (Development) Badaruddin bin Mohd Kassim and Melaka Corporation (MCORP) staff at the Outreach Programme SMEs with elements of innovation, commercialisation, research & development (R&D) programmes, products and services are given priority to join the X-SEED programme. The programme has produced a total of 287 SME Go-Ex Alumni and 50 GlobPreneur companies. The 50 Globpreneur companies generated sales of RM63.12 million in 2022. To ensure continuous guidance for Go-Ex Alumni and GlobPreneur companies, the X-SEED unit monitors their progress and post-programme development through the Monitoring and Impact Identification Programme. The programmes under the X-SEED unit are enhanced from time to time to ensure they remain relevant to the companies’ needs in expanding their market reach.
