80 TOWARDS THE FUTURE OF SUSTAINABLE EXPORTS EXPANDING THE EXPORTER COMMUNITY MATRADE offers trade advisory services and provides support for Malaysian exporters. It also conducts export outreach programmes such as organising participation in trade exhibitions and hosting seminars and webinars. In 2022, MATRADE conducted a total of 66 export outreach programmes that involved the participation of various ministries and government and private agencies, associations and business councils. Among them were Penang Development Corporation (PDC), Selangor State Development Corporation (PKNS), Invest Selangor, Malaysian Design Council (MRM), Malaysian Timber Industry Board (MTIB), Malaysia Petroleum Resources Corporation (MPRC), USAHANITA, Malaysian Green Technology and Climate Change Corporation (MGTC), Malaysian Plastics Manufacturers Association (MPMA), and Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM). Six (6) business consultation programmes were conducted virtually in partnership with Usahanita Hulu Langat, MalaysiaChina International Trade Link Association (MACITA), Worldwide Industrial Association (WIA),Business Network International Malaysia (BNI) and Biz Union Association, to provide information on MATRADE’s services. Throughout 2022, MATRADE participated in 39 international trade conferences and exhibitions in Malaysia and provided physical or virtual briefings at 19 seminars. The events included ADVISORY SERVICES Objective 6 the Star Outstanding Business Awards 2022 (SOBA), International Greentech & Eco Products Exhibition & Conference Malaysia (IGEM) 2022, MyAERO Summit 2022, Jelajah Aspirasi Keluarga Malaysia (AKM) 2022, Selangor International Halal Convention (SELHAC), APHM International Healthcare Conference & Exhibition 2022, Malaysian International Furniture Fair (MIFF) 2022, Malaysia Agriculture, Horticulture & Agrotourism (MAHA) 2022, Selangor International Expo (SIE) F&B 2022, SME CEO Forum 2022, Borak Bisnes Ekspo Usahawan Selangor at SELBIZ 2022, Workshop on Design Development and Branding Packaging for Cooperatives: 100 Champion Programme, and the MIDA-MPMA Conference on Government Assistance. At state level MATRADE organised an Export Day in Penang, with nearly 300 entrepreneurs attending the briefings and dialogues on export development. MATRADE supported MITI Day 2022, an open day to promote MITI’s services to the public. MATRADE coordinated the exhibition, which saw participation of more than 50 MSMEs. The event also featured cooking demonstrations by renowned chefs, sports activities and performances by local artistes. MATRADE also manages the Malaysia Exporter Registry (MER), which is a database of Malaysian companies registered with MATRADE. The platform is used to disseminate information about MATRADE’s services, including market research. Registration can be done online and membership is free.
