MATRADE Annual Report 2022

83 MATRADE Core Objectives MATRADE Annual Report 2022 PROVIDING SPECIALISED SUPPORT Objective 7 MATRADE provides specialised support to Malaysian companies in the form of grants and incentives to help them penetrate export markets. The grants or funds provided enable companies to strengthen their competitiveness and improve export promotion activities. MATRADE’s overseas offices assist Malaysian exporters by providing trade and industry-related consultations and connecting them with importers of products and services. The Market Development Grant (MDG) was established in 2002 to assist Malaysian companies in penetrating international markets through participation in export promotion activities. Eligible companies receive up to RM300,000 through a repayable incentive to offset part of the participation expenses. The MDG targets SMEs, Trade and Industry Associations, Chambers of Commerce, Professional Service Providers, Cooperatives, and Professional Bodies. Activities eligible for claims through the existing incentives include: 1. Participation in International Trade Fairs (ITFs) in Malaysia and abroad. 2. Participation in Trade and Investment Missions (TIM)/Export Acceleration Missions (EAM) organised by MATRADE or nonMATRADE agencies. 3. Participation in International Conferences. 4. Listing fees for Malaysian-made products overseas. In line with current developments, MATRADE has expanded the scope of MDG to cover virtual participation in ITFs, TIMs and EAMs. MARKET DEVELOPMENT GRANT (MDG)
