Grant recipient companies MATRADE, the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MOSTI) and the Malaysian Green Technology and Climate Change Center (MGTC) collaborated for Malaysia’s participation in conjunction with the world-class international exhibition, Expo 2020 Dubai, involving 400 companies. This exhibition aims to promote Malaysia as a major exporting entity of the world. It also introduces Malaysia as a sustainable and green technology focus which cares for the environment. A total of 183 companies have successfully claims from the MDG funds of RM1.42 million. Teck Seng Industrial Sdn. Bhd. Teck Seng Industrial Sdn. Bhd., established on 28 November 1995, is a manufacturer of wooden and rattan furniture. In 2022, the company generated export sales of RM1.15 million, mostly through exploration of markets in ASEAN, the UAE, Palestine, India, Oman, Surinam, and Haiti. The company consistently participated in various export promotion programmes organised by MATRADE and to date has received MDG benefits amounting to RM194,703.00. SERVICES EXPORT FUND (SEF) The Services Export Fund (SEF) is a grant facility that reimburses expenses by eligible entities such as Malaysian Service Providers (MSPs), Trade and Industry Associations, Chambers of Commerce, Professional Service Providers, Cooperatives, Professional Bodies, Government-Linked Investment Companies (GLICs), Government-Linked Companies (GLCs), and Cooperatives. The programme is available from 2021 - 2025 to alleviate the financial burden and support export development. The eligibility ceiling for each company applying for grants and loans is RM4.3 million. The SEF facility aims to enhance the competitiveness, accessibility, and expand export opportunities. It also aims to elevate Malaysia’s global profile as a competent service provider. Throughout 2022 a total of 382 outreach sessions were conducted to promote SEF, including participation in seminars/webinars/ briefings/talks and consultations with companies. There was a significant increase in participation of 383% compared to 2021, reflecting the recovery of economic activities and allowing for more extensive physical outreach programmes such as virtual alternatives. A total of 276 companies received assistance, with 52 becoming grant recipients through 85 approved applications totaling RM1.465 million. Meanwhile, the export potential generated from the approved SEF funds amounted to RM197 million. For every RM1 spent, it yielded a Return on Investment (ROI) of RM134 to the country. Among the new markets penetrated by MSPs in 2022 were Tajikistan, Sudan, Cuba, Timor Leste, and Papua New Guinea.
