99 Management, Integrity, Internal Audit and Strategic Planning MATRADE Annual Report 2022 Strategic planning is crucial in establishing the organisation’s direction as it sets the foundation for defining the mission, vision, and goals of MATRADE. This process enables the organisation to effectively allocate and optimise its existing resources, ultimately maximising its impact and fostering an enhanced export performance for the country. Hence, it is crucial for MATRADE to develop a comprehensive and flexible business strategic plan. This plan will not only improve overall performance but also steer MATRADE towards excellence by aligning its activities with its strategic objectives. The formulation of the Business Strategic Plan (BSP) serves as a vital tool for MATRADE to realise its vision of becoming a reputable and customer-centric Trade Promotion Agency (TPO). This plan is designed to address both external and internal challenges while continuously improving the agency’s services. The BSP, as a comprehensive reference document, outlines action plans aimed at enhancing MATRADE’s delivery system for Malaysian exporters, thereby enabling it to gain a competitive edge on the global stage. The initial implementation of this initiative dates back to 2011 with BSP 1.0, followed by BSP 2.0 in 2018. Building on these foundational documents, BSP 3.0 for the period of 2021 to 2025 was developed. This version takes into account the ongoing developments and changes, positioning it as a continuation and evolution of its predecessors. The three (3) key emphases in BSP 3.0 are: 1. Trade orientation by leveraging global trends 2. Digitalising service delivery 3. Structuring organisation, talent, internal processes, and communication BSP 3.0 outlines four (4) strategic clusters: Customer, Financial, Process, and Human Resources, with predefined parameters. These strategic clusters prioritise customer and stakeholder satisfaction, while strengthening internal processes that emphasise digitisation, supported by minimal resource utilisation. The outlined strategic clusters are as follows: Customers Enhancing exporters’ competitiveness and meeting stakeholder expectations STRATEGIC BUSINESS PLAN Financials Accountable and sustainable financial management Processes Efficient and effective internal processes Human Resources Committed, efficient, and knowledgeable workforce The scope of the BSP extends across all departments within MATRADE, encompassing a range of planned and implemented work processes and activities. These efforts are driven by specific objectives aimed at realising MATRADE’s aspirations and vision. The BSP works in synergy with other strategic documents employed by MATRADE, including the National Trade Blueprint (NTBp) and the Digitalisation Strategic Plan. STRATEGIC PLANNING
