PIKOM as the Voice of the Industry, on the other hand, is pushing forward the ICT market to

achieve RM95billion revenue by 2017 through focusing on the following thrusts:- Globalise

the Malaysian ICT industry; Increase competitiveness of the ICT industry; Promote human

capital development; Lead the digital trend Enhance value to members Accelerate

growth of Malaysian ICT demand.

Malaysia has a vibrant economy which offers various advantages to foreign

investments and collaborations. The country is backed by a politically stable

environment, and geographically it is located strategically in the ASEAN region.

Moreover, it provides the gateway to the 600 million populations in ASEAN as well as to the

OIC (Organisation of Islamic Cooperation) countries. With the advent of the ASEAN

Economic Community, the opportunities for partnership and growth are immense.

Globally, Malaysia was ranked 18th out of 140 countries for its competitiveness by the World

Economic Forum’s Global Competitiveness Report 2015-2016. The report cited Malaysia’s

efficient and competitive market for goods and services, its well-developed and sound

financial market and its business-friendly institutional framework as among its most notable

advantages. This is due to efforts by the government to create a conducive environment

for business and investments through various measures such as the Economic

Transformation Programme (ETP).
