Malaysian women of today have gained
acceptance as a formidable force in
all spheres of national development,
from the social sector to the economic
sector. Their active participation in
international trade has contributed to
the expansion of Malaysia’s business
prospects and economic potential.
Indeed, women entrepreneurs are
in a broad spectrum of business
activities. Women’s expertise are not
just limited to food and beverages,
textiles and clothing, gifts, souvenirs,
jewellery and cosmetics for domestic
distribution, but they are involved
in large scale manufacturing and
distribution to distant markets. Most
recently, widespread participation of
women entrepreneurs is also seen in
technology-based and high value-
added sectors such as engineering
services, the ICT sector, oil and gas,
and business support services.
This publication is a recognition of
the excellence of Malaysian women in
export business. It is my sincere hope
that this directory will encourage
more women to participate in the
arena of international trade and
contribute to the national economy.
