MATRADE Promotes Malaysian Building Materials Companies at The Big 5 Global
KUALA LUMPUR, 25 NOVEMBER 2024 (MONDAY): Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE) is coordinating the participation of 13 selected Malaysian companies that are enthusiastic in complementing to expand their business horizon to the MENA Region.
The Big 5 Global which will take place from 26 – 29 November 2024 is the largest trade exhibition for construction and building materials in the Middle East, Africa and South Asia. The exhibition offers a prominent platform that showcases specialised events such as Heavy, Totally Concrete, HVAC R Expo, Marble & Stone World, Urban Design & Landscape, Liveable CitiesX, Geoworld and Future FM. Through the event, it has attracted the participation of 2500 exhibitors and 85,000 global visitors from 165 countries.
Participation of Malaysian companies for this year comprises various segments in the building materials including aviation obstruction lights, clay bricks, solid surface, electric fans, spun piles, wall switches, wire & cable, extension sockets, decorative concrete, fiber mastic asphalt, children playground, tensile fabric structure, acrylic sheet and bathroom accessories.
Deputy Chief Executive Officer of MATRADE, En. Abu Bakar Yusof emphasised that Middle East countries particularly in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) poise significant opportunities for the building materials industry. The construction sector in the United Arab Emirates is anticipated to increase by 6.2%, reaching RM239.17 billion in 2024.
The sector is forecasted to experience steady growth over the year, with this positive momentum expected to persist throughout the forecast period. A compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 5.4% is predicted for the years 2024 to 2028, with the nation's construction output projected to hit RM295.66 billion by 2028, signifying considerable growth opportunities.
In addition to that, the construction sector is progressively embracing digital technologies and sustainable methods, in line with the UAE Clean Energy Strategy 2050. This involves incorporating smart technologies into architectural designs and prioritizing the reduction of carbon emissions throughout various projects.
