AMTECH was incorporated in Johor on Feb, 1999 and is currently entering its 15th year as formulator and manufacturer of production and cleaning chemicals. It has a current paid up of RM3.0 million (authorized RM5.0million) and operates its 100 tons per day production plant at the MIEL Industrial Area in Pasir Gudang Johor as well as Technical Offices spreading across the country from Kemaman in Terengganu to Sabah and Sarawak.

AMTECH is registered with MOF and has preferred supplier status with PETRONAS besides registration with other entities. It is also ISO 9001:2008 and ISO 18001:2004 certified. AMTECH registered trademark its products and devices and has one patent with PIHM for decontaminant product, which the company developed.The initial concept came from AMTECH Inc. in Calgary, Canada. The company was then focused on production chemicals for the oil and gas industry in North America, which pride in “solving site specific problems‟. Through the initial three years, AMTECH had successfully secured two grants for research and development on scale and corrosion inhibitors from SMIDEC for RM0.5 million through an MOU with UTM Chemical Engineering Pilot Plant in Johor.From August 2002 AMTECH was granted a CRDF Grant worth of RM1.75 million for the development of hydrocarbon sludge minimization technology with UTM and MINT. Essentially it is a project that recovers useful hydrocarbons from waste sludge from the EXXON Crude Oil Terminal (TCOT) in Kerteh. At the time, the company operated from their prototype plant at the SME Bandar Tenggara Complex until 2008 when they moved to their new location in Pasir Gudang.In 2007, the company obtained a preference status known as “Restricted Category‟ (similar to Vendor) from PETRONAS for three products: scale, corrosion and de-oilers. The RC status is an advantage for the company to supply at least 20 to 25% of the existing market estimated at RM100 million annually.AMTECH secured two (3+2 years) contracts in 2007-2008 worth RM22.5 million with PETRONAS and NEWFIELD Inc., a US based company. Turnover increased to RM6.0 million in 2008 when they secured two new contracts, which was a 200% increase while in 2009 the turnover grew by 100% to RM13.0 million in spite of the global downturn.In 2010, AMTECH has secured a (5+3 years) contract with PETRONAS Carigali Sdn. Bhd. worth RM50 million. At the same time, AMTECH re-engineered their strategic plan for the next five years which will see the development of new subsidiaries for operating engineering services, trading, water treatment, downstream, R&D and enhance laboratory services which will contribute about RM 25.0 million into the revenues. It is critical that AMTECH sustain its growth momentum through adding value from associated businesses in an innovative and highly competitive industry.For three years running (since 2012) AMTECH was evaluated and accorded Four Star rating by SME Corporation and it was adopted by MATRADE under the BEWP Program to promote its business globally.In its fifteenth year, AMTECH Chemical is innovating into green technology products as well as enhancing its raw materials development so as to stay competitive and relevant. This is done in collaboration with local universities and in doing so, maximizes the resources at these institutions; provide sharing of knowledge and local benefits. AMTECH Chemical is preparing itself for the regional markets through strengthening its R&D, Engineering Services and trained resources. At the same time basic infrastructure is already in place through collaboration with marketing centres in Singapore and Jakarta.With these exciting prospects, AMTECH is expanding into a Holdings entity, which will see formation of several subsidiary companies, capacity to venture overseas and potential to expand its sales. In tandem with the National Agenda, AMTECH is moving into “green technology” as part of its second Ten Years Plan, being implemented in stages to complete achievement of the company‟s vision and mission.
