MATRADE Rallies Malaysian Aerospace Companies to Elevate Global Presence at Paris Airshow 2025 Through The Malaysia Pavilion
KUALA LUMPUR, 4 APRIL 2024 (FRIDAY): Malaysian aerospace companies are urged to capitalise on the Malaysia Pavilion at the Paris Airshow 2025 to expand their global footprint. Malaysia’s participation in the International Paris Airshow, which will be taking place from 16-22 June 2025 at Le Bourget, Paris, will be spearheaded by the Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE), in collaboration with National Aerospace Industry Corporation Malaysia (NAICO), is anticipated to gain stronger prominence this year in light of current global trade dynamics.
International Paris Airshow, is a high-impact platform for Malaysian companies to engage with top-tier buyers, learn about the latest market trends, negotiate contracts and explore new opportunities to become part of the global aerospace supply chain. The event has long proven to be an effective platform for companies to build their global branding and establish partnerships with leading industry players.
MATRADE will showcase the capabilities of 15 Malaysian companies specialising in aerospace manufacturing, maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO), system integration, engineering services, education, new space, composites, astronautics and more.
MATRADE Chief Executive Officer (CEO), YBhg. Datuk Mohd Mustafa Abdul Aziz, emphasised Malaysia’s growing prominence in the international aerospace sector, with the export value reaching RM5.74 billion in 2024. Aircraft parts accounted for 83.2 per cent of these exports recording and increase of 20.3% compared to 2023, driven by global demand for fleet modernisation, rising air travel, and the need for more efficient aerospace solutions. Key markets such as China, Indonesia, Singapore, the United States, and France have increasingly looked to Malaysia as a reliable and innovative aerospace partner.
“Malaysia’s aerospace ecosystem, with its strengths in precision engineering, composites, and MRO services, is well-positioned to capitalise on megatrends affecting the industry such as sustainability, digitalisation and advanced manufacturing to offer innovative solutions to meet the evolving needs of the industry,” said Datuk Mohd Mustafa.
“Malaysia offers a compelling value proposition as an aerospace hub, supported by a strong local supply chain network, world-class infrastructure and an ecosystem comprising both international and domestic players,” he said, adding that Malaysia has the potential to become a preferred sourcing destination for aircraft parts, driven by its well-established ecosystem, adoption of industry best practices, and compliance with global aerospace standards.
NAICO Malaysia’s Chief Executive Officer, Prof. Ts. Shamsul Kamar Abu Samah, echoed MATRADE’s views, stating that Malaysia’s aerospace industry is on a strong upward trajectory, with an estimated revenue of RM21.7 billion and a workforce of 29,900 in 2024. “Through this engagement, we aim to strengthen the local aerospace supply chain, promote high-value exports, and, in turn, accelerate industry growth. This is in line with the Malaysia Aerospace Industry Blueprint 2030 (MAIB 2030) and the New Industrial Master Plan 2030 (NIMP 2030) by MITI. We encourage Malaysian companies to leverage this opportunity to build international networks and expand their market presence,” Prof. Ts. Shamsul Kamar said.
MATRADE’s collaboration with NAICO in terms of organising Malaysia Pavilions in Paris Airshow began in 2017. To date, 43 Malaysian companies have benefited from participating under the Malaysia Pavilion. In 2023, Malaysia stood out as the only ASEAN country with a dedicated pavilion. This year, as Malaysia assumes the Chairmanship of ASEAN, it aims to reinforce its leadership in the regional aerospace industry.
The Paris Airshow is the world’s largest aerospace and aviation event, attracting industry giants, government delegations, and decision-makers from across the globe. The event offers networking opportunities, exclusive business meetings, live technology demonstrations, and the latest insights into the future of aerospace. Participating companies will have direct access to high-level stakeholders, giving them a competitive edge in securing new deals and expanding their market reach.
Malaysian companies looking to seize this opportunity can apply to be part of the Malaysia Pavilion by 30 April 2025.
