KUALA LUMPUR, 18 August 2025 – As with previous years, MATRADE will be hosting its flagship  International Sourcing Programme (INSP) in Conjunction with the Malaysia International Halal  Showcase (MIHAS) to connect global buyers with Malaysian exporters. The hybrid-format initiative  will connect over 300 international buyers from 50 countries covering all regions of the world, including  premium importers and leading hypermarket chains, with Malaysian exporters.

The programme which went live virtually on 1 April 2025, paves the way for the high-impact physical  business matching session that is set to take place on 17 September 2025 during MIHAS 2025 at the  Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre (MITEC) in Kuala Lumpur, where around 3,500  meetings are expected to take place under one roof. The virtual business matching sessions will take  place until 5 November 2025, providing exporters with extended opportunities to meet global buyers  online.

The buyers have indicated strong interest to source products such as pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, palm  oil products, prepared food as well as beverages. In the services sectors, their focus is on areas such as  distribution & logistics, Islamic financial services and education.

A Proven Gateway for Global Halal Trade

According to MATRADE Chairman Dato’ Seri Reezal Merican Naina Merican, since its  inception, INSP MIHAS has linked over 7,500 international buyers with Malaysian exporters,  generating close to RM17 billion in halal trade. “INSP MIHAS 2025 will host one of our most  regionally diverse buyer contingents ever this year, spanning all regions of the world and key growth  industries,” he said. He added that this year, MATRADE’s focus is on unlocking new markets such as  Algeria, Congo, Mali, Ghana, Norway, Costa Rica and Panama to name a few, building stronger  partnerships, and positioning Malaysian exporters at the forefront of global halal trade. “As ASEAN  Chair, Malaysia is ideally placed to connect our SMEs to world-class opportunities and reinforce our  leadership in the halal economy,” he stressed.

Building Partnerships Beyond Borders

MATRADE Chief Executive Officer Dato’ Sri Mohd Mustafa Abdul Aziz highlighted that INSP  MIHAS is not only about closing deals, but also about forging sustainable, mutually beneficial  partnerships. “By bringing together premium buyers from 50 countries, INSP MIHAS creates a  powerful platform for Malaysian SMEs to diversify into high-value markets and build lasting, mutually  beneficial partnerships. Collectively, these buyers represent annual revenues exceeding RM800 billion.  As such, this will be more than just transactions. It is meant to establish Malaysian products and  services as trusted brands in the global halal marketplace and opening doors to long-term growth  across multiple regions,” he added.

The Countdown to 17 September

Participating exporters will span diverse sectors including apparel, gloves, machinery, gifts, packaging,  pet products, fashion accessories, footwear, and Islamic entertainment, alongside core halal food and  services.
