Malaysia Strengthens Global Aerospace Presence at Farnborough International Airshow 2026

Connecting Malaysian Innovation with the Global Aerospace Value Chain

KUALA LUMPUR, 20 JULY 2026 (MONDAY) – Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE), in collaboration with the National Aerospace Industry Corporation (NAICO) Malaysia is leading Malaysia’s participation at the Farnborough International Airshow (FIA) 2026, one of the world’s premier aerospace and defence exhibitions, taking place in Farnborough, United Kingdom from 20 to 24 July 2026. 

Marking MATRADE’s sixth participation at FIA, Malaysia Pavilion showcases Malaysia’s advanced aerospace capabilities through the participation of 15 Malaysian exhibitors supported by Invest Selangor Berhad, Malaysia Aerospace Industry Association (MAIA), and Malaysia Airlines Group (MAG), the Supporting Airline Partner for Malaysia’s participation at Farnborough International Airshow 2026.

The participation aims to strengthen Malaysia’s global presence, facilitate strategic business engagements, attract high-value export opportunities and reinforce the country’s position as a leading aerospace hub in Southeast Asia. It also reflects the Government’s continued commitment to strengthening the national aerospace ecosystem and expanding strategic collaborations with global aerospace stakeholders.

Malaysia Pavilion features Malaysian companies and organisations representing the country’s strengths across aerospace manufacturing, engineering and design services, maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO), aviation services, investment promotion and aerospace talent development.

Throughout the exhibition, the Pavilion will host a series of strategic programmes, including business-to-business (B2B) meetings, networking sessions, Malaysia–CPTPP Member Countries Supply Chain Linkage Engagements, Malaysia Aerospace Supply Chain Development and Partnership Seminar organised by NAICO Malaysia. These initiatives are designed to strengthen industrial collaboration, facilitate market access, and generate new business opportunities for Malaysian companies within the global aerospace supply chain. 

The programme also includes strategic industry engagements and networking sessions with leading global aerospace organisations. In addition, a Malaysian homegrown global champion within the aerospace supply chain will receive international recognition for its outstanding achievement, underscoring Malaysia’s growing capabilities in advanced aerospace manufacturing and engineering while reinforcing the country’s reputation as a trusted and competitive partner in the global aerospace value chain.

Complementing the physical Malaysia Pavilion, MATRADE is also showcasing Virtual Malaysia Pavilion on MADANI Digital Trade Platform (MDTP), enabling international buyers and business partners worldwide to discover participating Malaysian companies, explore their products and services and establish business connections beyond the exhibition.

Malaysia’s participation at FIA 2026 comes at a time of sustained growth in the global aerospace industry with the global market projected to exceed USD1 trillion by 2030, driven by rising commercial aviation demand, supply chain diversification and the transition towards sustainable aviation technologies. Malaysia is well positioned to capitalise on these opportunities as the second-largest aerospace hub in Southeast Asia and one of the top three Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) hubs in the Asia-Pacific region, supported by more than 250 aerospace companies approximately 34,700 highly skilled professionals and an industry generating RM32.5 billion in annual revenue.

The sector has also maintained strong growth momentum. During the first half of 2026, Malaysia recorded RM20.83 billion (USD5.21 billion) in total aerospace trade. Aircraft and helicopter parts remained the country’s largest aerospace export, accounting for 50.1% of total aerospace exports, while continued demand for aerostructures, aircraft components, navigation systems and engine-related products reflects Malaysia’s deep integration into global aerospace manufacturing, MRO and supply chain ecosystems.

Building on this momentum, Malaysia’s participation at FIA 2026 reaffirms MATRADE’s continued commitment to promoting Malaysian aerospace companies internationally, driving high-value export growth and strengthening Malaysia’s position as a preferred aerospace investment and manufacturing destination, in line with the aspirations of New Industrial Master Plan (NIMP) 2030 and the Malaysia Aerospace Industry Blueprint (MAIB) 2030.
