FORUM ON DOING BUSINESS WITH MALAYSIA FOR GLOBAL INDIAN DIASPORA

SUNDAY, 24 JULY 2016, KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE) organised a Business Forum for the Indian Diaspora at Menara MATRADE today in an effort to promote Malaysia as a trade and investment partner.

The forum was held in conjunction with Diamond Jubilee Anniversary and the International Kongu Convention organised by Malaysia Namakkal Welfare Association in Stadium Putra Bukit Jalil yesterday. Themed as “Cultural Awareness (Panbaadu Kaappom)”, the event attracted a total of 15,000 Kongu communities from many countries including India, Sri Lanka, USA, Canada, Germany, South Africa and Singapore.

The business forum organized by MATRADE was attended by over 400 participants who are prominent international industrialists and investors from the textile, manufacturing, tourism, agriculture and information technology sectors.

According to MATRADE’s CEO, Dato’ Dzulkifli Mahmud, the forum aims to promote Malaysian capabilities in various sectors to the Indian business community that gathered here in Kuala Lumpur for the International Kongu Convention. “The Forum provides a great platform for MATRADE and MIDA under the Ministry of International Trade and Industry to promote Malaysia’s trade and investment opportunities to international industrialists in the targeted sectors today. In addition, there was a business networking session between the foreign businessman and Malaysian companies. This is an effective initiative to promote Malaysia and we hope such programmes will result in greater opportunities to expand exports and increase investments,” Dato’ Dzulkifli said.

Complementing the forum is a visit to Malaysia Export Exhibition Centre (MEEC), the permanent display centre for exports, in Menara MATRADE. It showcases products and services from more than 500 Malaysian companies in over 30 industries.
