Tuesday, May 24th, 2016, Kuala Lumpur: Ten Malaysian kids wear brands congregate at Menara MATRADE today to be part of the Little Me Showcase – an event initiated by Ladiva Modelling and co-organised by Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE).

The Little Me Showcase features brands namely Benua Clothing, Darwish Rich Design, GOSH Baby Shop, Guzel Couture, Muslim Flava, The Qaiema, DNA by Dynas, Little Me Cotton, Qeera Kids and Elle & Shyne. Organised for the first time, the event is aimed at providing a platform for local entrepreneurs in the kids wear industry to develop strategic partnerships between their peers and government agencies such as MATRADE and Majlis Amanah Rakyat (MARA) to go global through exporting.

Over the years, local fashion industry is seeing a booming demand for trendy Malaysian kids wear as Malaysian parents, in particular young couples, are fast becoming more affluent in their children’s wear choices.

According to MATRADE’s Lifestyle Director Mr. Abu Bakar Yusof, the Little Me Showcase serves as an avenue for the Malaysian kids wear to better understand the export potential of their products. “With global kids wear market valued currently at approximately US$157 billion, we should push our local talents to venture abroad and tap on the opportunities in markets like Africa, Middle East, China and Europe. But it is also pivotal for the Malaysian brands to equip themselves with the marketing know-how. This is where MATRADE and MARA come into the picture,” he said.

The event also provides a venue for local designers to kick start their collaborations and to work together as a conglomerate in the effort to create a niche for Malaysian kids wear globally.

According to Ladiva Modelling Agency’s Director Ms. Kasmariani Apprianty, "We hope this showcase will connect the fashion designers with each other and by working together they may be able to ease their entry into foreign markets.”

The event is attended by representatives from MARA as well as Dynas Mokhtar, a well-known celebrity, heavily involved in kids fashion wear.
