FRIDAY, 28 FEBRUARY 2020, KUALA LUMPUR: As the host economy for the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) this year, Ministry of International Trade and Industry (MITI) through its trade agency, Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE) will be organising #MyAPEC2020 Exhibition from 20 to 22 April 2020 at Sabah International Convention Centre in Kota Kinabalu in conjunction with Ministers Responsible for Trade (MRT) Meeting.

The exhibition is aimed to promote greater business linkages among APEC business entities and highlight the varied range of products and services as well as to provide a platform for participating companies to network with business delegates and trade visitors.

#MyAPEC2020 will showcase nine targeted sectors namely Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Industrial Revolution 4.0; Modern Agriculture and Food Processing; Education; Green Technology and Energy; Healthcare; Professional and Business Services; Transportation (Logistics, Aerospace and MRO); Lifestyle as well as Building Materials.

In line with the theme of APEC 2020 “Optimising Human Potential towards a Future of Shared Prosperity”, the exhibition focuses on three priority areas – Improving the Narrative of Trade and Investment; Inclusive Economic Participation through Digital Economy and Technology as well as Driving Innovative Sustainability.

According to MATRADE’s Chief Executive Officer Dato’ Wan Latiff Wan Musa, #MyAPEC2020 will be a great platform for Malaysia to drive its agenda towards becoming a sustainable trading nation. “MATRADE is committed to strengthen Malaysia’s position as a preferred source of quality products and services. Last year, MATRADE has launched a programme to promote the adoption This approach will be provide a strategic advantage to Malaysian exporters as the demand for sustainable products and services are increasing especially in markets and industries where sustainability factor is a key benchmark in purchasing decisions. This is also very much in line2with United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) which promotes good practicestowards the environment, social and governance.” Wan Latiff said.

Apart from the showcase of products and services at the exhibition, #MyAPEC2020 will alsofeature a business matching platform called International Sourcing Programme (INSP). “The INSPis an effective avenue for exhibitors to find global buyers. It is also a cost-effective programme forSMEs who may not have sufficient means to travel overseas to sell their products and servicesglobally. We have seen a lot of successful Malaysian exporters getting their international ordersfrom this effort as it provides greater linkages for both local and foreign companies,” Wan Latiffadded.

Other than that, #MyAPEC2020 exhibition will highlight trade and investment opportunities,special cultural as well as unique traditions from the host state, Sabah. A virtual exhibition of#MyAPEC2020 will also be developed to maximise the reach of products and services showcasedat the exhibition to all over the world throughout the year via the internet.
