From São Paulo to Kuala Lumpur: Brazil Steps Onto the World’s Biggest Halal Stage at MIHAS 2025
KUALA LUMPUR, 13 AUGUST 2025 (WEDNESDAY) - The countdown is on for the 21st Malaysia International Halal Showcase (MIHAS 2025), set to take over the Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre (MITEC) from 17 to 20 September 2025. Organised by the Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE), MIHAS is recognised as the world’s largest marketplace for halal-certified, value-based products and services – bringing together buyers and sellers from more than 90 countries under one dynamic roof.
This year, Brazil makes a powerful statement on the global halal stage, with eight (8) leading Brazilian companies joining MIHAS’ renowned International Sourcing Programme (INSP). This high-impact, curated business-matching platform spans 14+ industry clusters, from Food & Beverages and Packaging to Manufacturing Technologies and Logistics. Their presence reflects Brazil’s accelerating embrace of halal standards – driven by rising demand for quality assurance, product traceability, and sustainable sourcing.
“MIHAS is where the world comes to witness the future of halal – a future built on trust, innovation and uncompromising quality,” said Mr. Amirul Azman Ahmad, Trade Commissioner of MATRADE São Paulo.
“For Brazilian businesses, halal is no longer a niche – it’s a rapidly expanding global standard synonymous with integrity, transparency, and sustainability. From gourmet delicacies to high-tech industrial solutions, MIHAS opens the door to fresh opportunities and powerful partnerships. We welcome more Brazilian companies to join this movement and experience first-hand how Malaysia is leading the global halal economy,” he added.
Connecting Brazil’s Halal Leaders to the World
MATRADE São Paulo is working hand-in-hand with Brazil’s most influential halal organisations – CDIAL Halal, the Federation of Muslim Associations of Brazil (FAMBRAS), and the Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce (CCAB) – to boost awareness, create business linkages, and connect Brazilian exporters and importers with Malaysia’s thriving halal ecosystem.
Halal Beyond Borders
While rooted in faith-based principles, MIHAS also champions global consumer trends, including organic, vegan, plant-based, and eco-friendly products. These offerings resonate with conscious buyers worldwide and align with Brazil’s evolving regulatory landscape.
According to Malaysia’s Halal Industry Master Plan (HIMP), global demand for halal-compliant products – already valued at over USD 3 trillion – is set to soar to USD 5 trillion by 2030. Far from being exclusive to Muslim-majority nations, halal has become an internationally recognised symbol of quality, safety, and ethical production.
A Strategic Global Marketplace
In line with Malaysia’s 2025 ASEAN Chairmanship, MIHAS will also feature special ASEAN and Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) pavilions – bridging Latin American suppliers with booming markets in Asia and the Middle East.
The 2024 edition of MIHAS achieved RM 4.3 billion in trade and drew over 43,000 visitors from around the globe. This year, themed “Pinnacle of Halal Excellence”, MIHAS aims to break new records with a projected RM 4.5 billion in trade. For the first time, exhibitors and buyers will benefit from AI-powered tools on the MADANI Digital Trade (MDT) platform, enabling faster sourcing, smarter matchmaking, and real-time deal-making.
