MATRADE Continues to Facilitate More Malaysian Oil and Gas Companies to Expand Globally
WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 27, 2023, KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysian Oil and Gas (O&G) companies will continue to participate in the Abu Dhabi International Petroleum Exhibition & Conference (ADIPEC), the largest O&G exhibition in the Middle East from 2 – 5 October 2023. Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE) has been organising the participation of Malaysian companies through the national pavilion in ADIPEC since 2014. A total of 20 Malaysian O&G companies will be exhibiting at this year’s ADIPEC edition.
The Malaysian companies will showcase, among others, products and services related to the fabrication of O&G process equipment, engineering services, mechanical services, engineering solutions, explosion protection compliance services, Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) solutions, as well as, pipeline inspection and cleaning services.
More than 120 business meetings have been arranged between Malaysian exhibitors and international partners from the Middle East, North Africa, Central Asia, and Europe.
According to MATRADE’s Director of O&G, Chemical, and Energy Section, Mr. Idzham Abdul Hamid, “the strong interest of Malaysian companies for the past couple of years reflects the importance of the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region.” In 2022, Malaysia’s total exports to the UAE recorded a significant increase of 45.4 percent to RM15.44 billion compared with RM10.62 billion in 2021. Meanwhile, exports of petroleum products to the UAE grew by almost four-fold to RM2.41 billion.
Malaysian O&G companies have a direct presence or are involved in projects in most of the Middle Eastern countries, with a concentration in UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Iraq and Oman.
In addition, MATRADE continues to promote and enhance market access for Malaysian O&G companies in key markets in the region. “Apart from our participation in ADIPEC, we have also been facilitating Malaysian exporters by connecting them with National Oil Companies (NOCs) in the region. We hope that the Malaysian companies will be able to register as vendors for the NOCs and bid for oil and gas projects in the respective markets,” he pointed out.
Malaysian oil and gas companies are encouraged to contact MATRADE offices in Jeddah, Cairo, Doha and Dubai to seek assistance for market access and business expansion in the MENA region.
