Malaysia Pushes for Greater International Collaboration, Nine Local Studios Take the Stage at Tokyo Game Show 2025
KUALA LUMPUR, 22 SEPTEMBER 2025 (MONDAY) - Malaysia will spotlight its growing gaming and digital content industry at the Tokyo Game Show (TGS) 2025, with nine homegrown studios taking centre stage from 25 to 28 September 2025 at Makuhari Messe, Chiba, Japan.
For the ninth consecutive year, the Malaysia Pavilion is spearheaded by the Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE) along with Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC).
Participating studios include Metropolice Studio, Nimbus Games, Youniverse Games, Magnus Games Studio, Les’ Copaque Production, Kotakoren Games Studio, Fuloso, Studio Raksa and Kadeau. Their expertise spans consoles and mobile game development, animation, gamification platforms, metaverse innovations and cutting-edge digital creative services.
An exciting line-up of games will be unveiled. They include The Hell- City Builder of the Dead, Chiyo, Parasomnia, Project Survival and the latest 3D console release from Malaysia’s beloved Upin & Ipin franchise. In a first for MATRADE, Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs) will be engaged at the show to drive gamer participation and expand international reach, enabling global audiences to experience Malaysia’s creative talent and innovations first hand.
Throughout the four-day event, MATRADE and MDEC will be driving various business engagements through a curated programme including business matchmaking sessions with strategic partners such as game publishers, tech incubators, platform owners and investors, alongside media exposure and targeted networking activities. These efforts aim to strengthen Malaysia’s position in the global creative ecosystem and open new export opportunities for local studios.
“Malaysian game studios excel at publishing original IPs across console, mobile and PC platforms. They also demonstrate strong capabilities in every stage of game development from pre-production to post-production, including immersive technology, asset rendering and high-quality 2D and 3D design,” said MATRADE Chief Executive Officer YBhg. Dato’ Sri Mohd Mustafa Abdul Aziz.
MDEC Chief Executive Officer Anuar Fariz Fadzil added: “Beyond unveiling captivating games, our studios will be showcasing bold, original IPs at TGS 2025 that bring to life Malaysia’s rich cultural identity and creative ingenuity. MDEC is committed to amplifying these talents on the global stage, while reinforcing Malaysia’s role as a strategic hub for innovative digital content and gaming excellence.”
The global gaming market is forecasted to reach USD 505 billion by 2030, growing at a CAGR of 8.7% from 2025. Asia Pacific remains the fastest growing region, driven primarily by the rapid rise of mobile gaming. In line with this trend, Malaysia’s digital creative industry generated around RM5.3 billion in revenue for 2023, of which approximately 15% or RM800 million came from exports, underscoring its increasing global export strength.
