MATRADE Continues to Promote Malaysian Construction and Building Materials Sector in The Middle East Through The Big 5 Dubai 2021
SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 11, 2021, KUALA LUMPUR: As part of the continuous efforts to promote Malaysian capabilities in the construction and building materials sectors, Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE) will be organising the participation of Malaysian companies in The Big 5 Dubai Show at Dubai World Trade Centre from 12 – 15 September 2021. This initiative is to support and facilitate Malaysian companies in recovering their export business amidst the COVID-19 pandemic.
The main objectives of the participation are to promote Malaysian products and services, explore business opportunities as well as to collaborate with potential strategic partners in the construction related projects in the Middle East region. Besides, the Big 5 Dubai is also an ideal platform to showcase Malaysian capabilities in supplying highest quality building material products.
The Big 5 Dubai is known as the largest influential building and construction exhibition in the Middle East. This year, the Big 5 Dubai exhibition will host more than 2,000 global exhibitors from more than 100 countries.
Besides physically exhibiting at the event, MATRADE will also be conducting online virtual business matchings or eBizMatch in conjunction with The Big 5 Dubai 2021 exhibition. The eBizMatch provides a cost-effective virtual platform for Malaysian companies to meet and discuss with foreign buyers.
According to Mr. Idzham Abdul Hamid, Director of MATRADE’s Construction and Business Services Section, “Last year, Malaysia’s total exports of building materials were valued at RM35.86 billion. Amongst our major markets include the People’s Republic of China which saw an increase of 335.7% followed by the United States of America, 25.4% and the Philippines, 4.7%. The major products exported were steel bars, plywood, sawn timber and glass related products. We believe our continuous efforts in connecting local suppliers with foreign buyers would enable them to grow globally as well as to elevate the Malaysian construction and building materials sector in years to come.†In addition, MATRADE aims to attract the attention of project owners such as Dubai Creek harbour, Yes Bay Development Abu Dhabi, Al Dhafra Solar Photovoltaics (PV) project and Dubai South residential projects. It would be a great opportunity for Malaysian companies to supply innovative and quality construction materials to these projects.
In order to further assist Malaysian exporters in securing new markets, MATRADE will once again organise its iconic International Sourcing Programme (INSP) in conjunction with Archidex 2021 which will be held from 3 – 6 November 2021.
