National Franchise Development Blueprint (NFDB)
NFDB is envisaged to provide clear and specific goals and strategic directions
to propel the industry to faster and sustainable growth that is aligned with the
National Development Agenda of achieving developed status, ensuring a high
income economy through inclusiveness and sustainability. One of the main
objectives and strategies is to develop an industry that advocates franchising
for all; making franchise accessible and creating more opportunities for all.
NFDB covers a broad spectrum of stakeholders and target groups that include
the existing franchise fraternity, youth, women, the disabled, pensioners
and many more, to provide economic opportunities. The NFDB also aims
to expand the focus from traditional sectors (such as food and beverages,
clothing, health & beauty), to new sectors such as education, green products &
services, medical tourism, as well as Syariah compliant products & services to
penetrate the Middle East and other Muslim markets. It is also imperative that
the industry’s growth be private sector-led and incentives driven, as well as
leveraging on emphasis in human capital development and a responsive and
dynamic ecosystem with strong infrastructure as pre-requisites.
