Malaysia Achieves RM1.67 Billion in Sales at Gulfood 2025, Strengthening Global F&B Presence
KUALA LUMPUR, 7 MARCH 2025 (FRIDAY) – Malaysia has solidified its footprint in the global food and beverage (F&B) industry at GULFOOD 2025, the world’s premier annual F&B trade exhibition, held from 17-21 February 2025 at the Dubai World Trade Centre, UAE. Spearheaded by MATRADE, Malaysia’s participation resulted in impressive total export sales of RM1.67 billion, significantly surpassing the initial sales target of RM680 million.
The Malaysia Pavilion, organised by MATRADE, showcased an impressive lineup of 90 Malaysian companies alongside four government agencies—FAMA, the Department of Industrial Development and Research (DIDR) Sabah, SME Bank, and MPOC. This dynamic presence highlighted a wide array of F&B products, including palm oil, processed foods, beverages, food seasonings, and health supplements, all reflecting Malaysia’s diverse culinary offerings.
Malaysia’s participation at GULFOOD 2025 yielded remarkable sales outcomes, with potential sales recorded at RM1.45 billion and actual sales reaching RM216.23 million—representing a 12.1% increase compared to sales of RM1.49 billion in 2024. Notable product categories included palm oil, food seasonings, processed foods, beverages, and health supplements, emphasizing the growing global demand for high-quality, Halal-certified Malaysian products.
GULFOOD 2025 attracted over 5,500 exhibitors from 129 countries, offering more than 1 million products. Malaysian exhibitors effectively leveraged this platform to not only strengthen existing business relationships but also explore new opportunities within the UAE and the broader MENA region. The Malaysian brand is particularly esteemed for its Halal-certified products, reinforcing Malaysia’s position as a global leader in the halal F&B sector.
Key emerging trends observed at GULFOOD 2025 include increasing demand for plant-based and functional foods, a growing emphasis on sustainability and food waste reduction, and expanding opportunities for premium F&B products catering to the UAE’s flourishing tourism sector.
Looking ahead, the 31st edition of GULFOOD is scheduled to take place from 26-30 January 2026. MATRADE is committed to enhancing Malaysia’s presence at this event by expanding exhibition space and participant engagement. This strategic initiative aims to amplify export opportunities and fortify Malaysia’s F&B exports within the region.
